PRINTING PROCESS: These prints are reproductions of original paintings, but they are NOT digital photos. My originals are scanned at the highest resolution and then images are transferred onto archival photographic paper. Scanning allows to capture details such as little brushstrokes and canvas texture, which digital photography does not catch. These reproductions are saturated with color. Every print is inspected closely to ensure that its color balance is identical with that of original work.
AND WHAT ABOUT LONGEVITY? Giclee printing technology evolves all the time. All of Anastasia Mak reproductions manufactured after 2008 have been printed on archival materials with long-lasting inks, and are guaranteed to hold their color and brightness for 80+ years (according to test results done on these materials by Wilhelm Imaging Research). Reproductions printed on paper should be displayed under glass or plastic at all times. Please note, you are only advised to use UV glass if the area where your print will hang gets A LOT of warm sunlight. Otherwise, regular glass will suffice. Reproductions printed on canvas can be displayed uncovered - they have been coated by an archival UV-resistant varnish, which will protect them from fading.
•For each painting, all print sizes are part of the SAME LIMITED EDITION. For example, if a print edition is 400, all sizes - 8x10, 12x16, 16x20, 18x24, or custom - will be a part of that same edition. The only exception are my 5x7 Mini Prints, which are open edition.
•My prints are made one-at-a-time (not pre-made as a large badge).
•Once I sell the number of prints covered by an edition, I permanently stop producing all sizes of prints of that image (with the exception of 5x7 mini-prints, which are open edition).
•My print editions of paintings produced after 01/2008 do not exceed 500. Editions of paintings produced between 2005 and 01/2008 do not exceed 700.
All prints (framed or unframed) are shipped flat, securely packaged in a hard corrugated box (or a hard envelope). Framed prints are also wrapped in cushioning material to prevent damage during shipping & handling.
• Unframed: 8x10, 12x16, 16x20, 12x12, 16x16, 18x24, and odd-sized prints. Print size corresponds to the mattboard backing it is mounted on. Prints are hand-torn around the border and floated against black background (mounted on smooth black matboard). Signed, numbered, and packaged in plastic.
• Framed: 8x10, 12x16, 16x16, 16x20, and 18x24. print corresponds to the inside of the frame area (same size as the mattboard backing of the print. Thus, a 12x16 print will fit into a 12x16 frame. To get OUTSIDE dimensions of a frame, please contact me. The outside of the frame is usually 2-3" longer in each direction, depending on the type of frame used). Very unique and ready to hang. Signed and numbered. Hand-torn around the border and floated inside of a frame against black background (mounted on smooth black matboard).
FRAMES: Please take a look at photos above. Frames that come with your prints will be the same style - wooden black with natural beveled edges. If you prefer a different frame (different color OR style), please contact me, and I will do my best to accomodate your custom framing preference.
